I've been working on a new series, set in the woods, in which the animals of the forest take matters into their own hands to protect their habitat.
I love the delicate lines that the scratchboard medium allows. Scratchboard is a panel coated in fine kaolin clay and then covered in black ink. A needle or knife is used to scratch the black away to reveal the white underneath.
The end result is similar to a wood engraving, which was the medium often used by MC Escher. He is clearly one of my influences here.
